Andy Mason

Andy is a freelance writer, editor, cartoonist and visual communicator.
From 1989-2007 he was co-founder and creative director at Artworks Communications, a publishing and design agency in Durban. In March 2007 he retired from Artworks to pursue his creative interests.

Andy enjoys working at the interface between word and image. The great love of his life – besides his wife Catherine and his sons Chris and Luke – is the art of comics, sometimes also called ‘graphic narratives’ to make them seem more grown up. He draws comix under the nom de plume N.D.Mazin.

Andy is the editor/publisher of Mamba Comix, an annual South African comix anthology. His book on the history of South African cartooning and the cartooning of South African history will be published in 2008.
